Is there a compatibility issue related to Win7 SP1 clients?
On our newer Windows 7 Enterprise clients I am having several problems with SCE2010. The only populate the "All Windows Computers" group, but not any of the other (dynamic) groups. I can add the clients explisitly to groups in order to get software distributed but a number of softaware packages now fail with 80070570 errors. Also the inventory data for the clients is not complete and health statatus is not updated. I now noticed that this is for Windows 7 clients with SP1 installed only. Windows 7 without SP1 work fine! I checked for an update of the Windwos 7 client Management Pack but found none. Is there a compatibility issue related to Win7 SP1 clients? How to get these clients working? Will there be a MP og SP for SCE soon that solves this?

Hello Sewellia, Error 0x80070570 was reported several times on Wondows 7 SP1. For example: One particular software package no longer installs on Windows 7 after upgrade to SP1 - error 80070570 (file corrupt) http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/systemcenterdevelopment/thread/298dc719-ecc4-44e3-9489-39bfda98c1a7/ According to Mangesh, a public release of this fix would be made available around August 31, 2011. Please do not treat this as precise official release date, but an announcement & release might move by a week on either side. Microsoft has already initiated public release process and started working on this fix. Thanks Yog Li. I also read that thread. The same error 80070570 also occurs when deploying a number og Adobe software packages (eg Acrobat-X, Photoshop Elemenst 9). I hope these will also install again to SP1 clients after the fix has been released. But, this is according to my opinion a minor issue. My main concern was that Windows 7 Enterprise clients with SP1 (64bits) only populate the "All Windows Computers" group in SCE. Not any of the other (dynamic) groups. Also the inventory data for these clients is not complete and health statatus is not updated. I can add the clients explisitly to groups in order to get software distributed. Any suggestions? Thanks

Hello, For the inventory questions about Windows 7 SP1, did you ever check this article: Troubleshooting ‘Unknown’ software and update status, ‘Not yet contacted’ and lack of hardware and software inventory http://blogs.technet.com/b/systemcenteressentials/archive/2010/03/29/troubleshooting-unknown-software-and-update-status-not-yet-contacted-and-lack-of-hardware-and-software-inventory.aspx Thanks,Yog Li -- Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. KB2607070 solved the issue of large software deployments failing. The problem with population of dynamic groups was not solved. I reinstalled SCE2010 entirely and now the problem is gone. However, in the process, I lost all my clients (even though I use teh same server and server name for teh new instllation). I got 60% of the clients back by using scheduled discovery. The others wont show up and they do not appear in the admin console after doing a manual installation of the client either. (Discovery and push does not work as they are 64-bits clients). I will seach for another thread on this. Thanks

Sewellia, if the problem w.r.t grouping occurs again i suggest you to use Computer group repair tool from Reskit of SCE 2010. available @http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=191.
