Is there a Microsoft maintained list of 3rd party web parts for surfacing data from people like SAP and Peoplesoft?
Hi, Circa 2005 I used to browse a list on Microsoft.com of 3rd party web parts designed to show data from these LOB systems in SharePoint such as SAP and PeopleSoft. The list had 100s though not just these 2. Where is it? !! I cant find it anywhere! Any links please?

Hi xyz2012, From your post, you want to display data from SAP or PeopleSoft system in SharePoint server 2007 site. Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 enables a simple way to incorporate SAP applications using the built-in SAP iView Web Part. SAP iViews are in-line Web elements that are hosted by SAP Enterprise Portal. The IView Web Part of Office SharePoint Server 2007 displays these mini-portals as HTML IFrames. Office SharePoint Server 2007 makes the call to the SAP portal; the SAP Enterprise Portal server performs all the application logic and security validation; and Office SharePoint Server 2007 displays the results, as well as any iView functionality. You need to configure SSO before you create an iView web part in SharePoint Server 2007. In addition to that, SharePoint provides two main technology areas to allow integrate with external applications. 1. Business Data Catalog 2. Custom Web Parts which provide full control over development and allow consumption of external Web Services through custom code. For more information about Configuring Office SharePoint Server for SAP iView Web Parts, please refer to the following articles: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc262461(office.12).aspx http://blogs.msdn.com/b/altaf_gilani/archive/2009/02/03/sap-iview-integration-with-microsoft-office-sharepoint-server-2007.aspx For more information about Office SharePoint Server 2007 – PeopleSoft Integration, please refer to the following article: PeopleSoftSharePoint2007Integration.pdf http://www.4shared.com/document/oCIfXWGl/PeopleSoftSharePoint2007Integr.html If you have any questions, please feel free to let me know. Hi xyz2012, From your reply, you want to get data from Oracle database system. You can connect to oracle database through business-data-catalogue webpart. You have to create business-data-catalogue data definition file and attach it to the business-data-catalogue webpart. Finally upload that XML. To have this working properly you'll have to configure Single Sign-On on your SharePoint Server 2007. There is now tool available to create business-data-catalogue Meta data definition. Please go through the following Links, you can get your needs. Use business-data-catalogue to connect to Oracle Databases http://vspug.com/ldusolier/2006/12/22/use-bdc-to-connect-to-oracle-databases-you-can-use-the-bdc-feature-of-moss-2007-to-interact-with-information-stored-in-external-data-sources-for-example-sql-server-and-oracle-data-bases-the-bdc-part-2/ Creating a Database Connection by Using the Business Data Catalog Definition Editor http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb736296(v=office.12).aspx Creating a Web Service Connection by Using the Business Data Catalog Definition Editor http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb737887(v=office.12).aspx For more information about business-data-catalogue, please refer to the following article: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/martinkearn/archive/2006/10/05/what-is-the-business-data-catalouge_3f00_.aspx Thanks, Rock Wang TechNet Subscriber Support in forum If you have any feedback on our support, please contact tngfb@microsoft.comRegards, Rock Wang Microsoft Online Community Support

IF the list exists it would be highly useful...

The short answer to this is going to be no. I remember a similar list but this was for SharePoint 2003, which was a very devolved form of the 2007 version of the product that we have now. Market saturation for these versions is without a doubt, higher than SharePoint 2003 achieved, and with it comes an increase in the number of companies that create and certify thier own products against SharePoint 2007. If you factor in the Microsoft move towards Open Source communities (CodePlex for instance), which was far, far less prevalent back in 2003 than now, you might agree that the need for a Microsoft compiled list was quite useful but would effectively serve no purpose now. Thinking further afield, the MS Partner Network would be a better way to endorse or suggest products rather than maintaining a simple list. I've had a look for this list under a number of different terms and possibilities but I can't find it anywhere. You may be best served assessing your data surfacing needs and compiling a list of adequete solutions for them, rather than looking for an antiquated list that probably has no real relelvance to the current version of SharePoint that we know today. Hi, The info provided is quite interesting but did not answer my initial question which was: Is there a Microsoft maintained list of 3rd party web parts for surfacing data from people like SAP and Peoplesoft I know you can use BDC and web services - that's not what I was asking... :)
