Is it possible to use SharePoint sharing/edititing the same file yet keeping track of who make what changes?
Our business users have a workbook template with multiple worksheets of test scripts. Multiple people will need to edit different worksheets in a same workbook at the same time but managers would like to keep track of who makes what chnages. Business thinks SharePoint should be great for this purpose. I know force check-out can keep track of changes yet it will not allow file sharing for multiple users. Is there a way to achieve both goals or they are just conflict to each other so just can't have both? Thanks in advance for any help. Sally

What version of SharePoint are you using? If you're using MOSS, then you'll be able to take advantage of the auditing capabilities within the product, which are explained quite well here. This will give you a note of who edited something and I believe the versioning will keep a record of the differences made. http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint-server-help/view-audit-log-reports-HA010100005.aspxSteven Andrews | SharePoint Professional | http://www.twitter.com/backpackerd00d | https://baron72.wordpress.com/

Thanks Steven for your answer and pointing out the audit report function. That will definitely help. We will use SharePoint 2010 so not sure if I need to install Office Web App for this purpose since we don't want to check out the file yet want to track the changes. Thanks again. Sally
