Is it possible to uninstall hotfix KB2417774?
I've installed: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2417774 I cannot export to the Portal, although everything else seems to be functioning just fine. It seems that I may not be the only one: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/ilm2/thread/583fe304-741e-40f3-9fd1-059bd1622944 Although, the uninstall path does not look promising: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sharepointadmin/thread/3d1a9d5f-b7be-4a6c-b001-5c96ac99f6b4 I'd still like to give it a shot to get things back up and running. The hotfixes (for the Sync & Portal) show up with the option to uninstall in Control Panel, but eventually ask for an .MSI file. I'm not sure what to provide here. The original install .MSI's? Something else? Is there another uninstall option that I'm missing? Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks! -Ryan

I was able to successfully uninstall the hotfix for the Sync and Portal Sevice, by providing the original installer MSI's to the uninstaller. This of course leaves the database at a new version than the services. Any chance there is a way around this? Or am I looking at a db restore? Thanks! -Ryan

Did you uninstall from the GUI or shell? I installed the Hotfix from an Administrator cmd prompt, and I'm not allowed to uninstall it again from the GUI (despite being a local Admin). I have tried: wmic:root\cli>qfe get hotfixid (KB2417774 is not in the list of hotfixes returned) and wusa /uninstall /KB:2417774 (Returns: The update KB2417774 is not installed on this comuter) and starting appwiz.cpl from an admin cmd prompt. Any ideas as to how I can force-start the uninstall from cmd? Thanks, Francis

Francis, I used the GUI. Control Panel -> Programs & Features -> View Installed Updates It was originally installed from an administrator command prompt. Also, there IS an update to the hotfix (http://blogs.dirteam.com/blogs/jorge/archive/2011/02/18/latest-rollup-hotfix-available-for-fim-2010-build-4-0-3573-2.aspx) that was recently released. I've successfully installed the update to the Sync service, but I am not able to successfully install the Portal service update again after the uninstall (either rev), so I'm still working on that at this point to see if it will address the issue. Thanks! -Ryan

Strange, I tried uninstalling from both the GUI and shell, but to no avail. I ended up reinstalling FIM from scratch. Francis
