Is it possible to select a default entry in different document libraries for a site column.
Hi all,Is it possible to set up a default choice on column that is surfaced in a number of different libraries. That may not be terribly clear, so I'll try to illustrate the conditions that lead me to ask.I'm running a number of projects within SharePoint, all of which have specific metadata, such as the client, project itself and so on. To save on deployment time, I've set up a site column that is shared amongst the appropriate document libraries. What the client is asking after is having a new user save/upload a document to one of these libraries and wanting to see a specific client and project combination there. Now, if this was done using a choice column, I'd be able to select a default entry per (document library instance) but as this colukn is a look-up type, its not possible.I was hoping that a lookup column would have the same behavior as a choice field, in that a default behaviour could be set but this isn't the case. Can anyone make any suggestions on how I may be able to set a specific default entry on a look-up column? Seems like a small point but one that appears to be the deal breaker.Any comments or suggestions are appreciated.http://www.final-exodus.net

Seems like you have two options: JQuery to set the default value Custom Field Type The first option will probably be the easiest, the second is much more programming intensive. ChrisChris Givens CEO, Architecting Connected Systems Blog Twitter
