Is it possible to monitor Exchange 2010 servers from TWO SCOM environments (2007 R2 and 2010)?
Hello, I've two individual SCOM environments (running on 2007 R2 and 2010 RTM with RU2). I'm currently monitoring Exchange 2010 environment with SCOM 2007 R2. Can I push SCOM 2010 Agent to these Exchange Servers to also monitor via SCOM 2012? I mean two different departments needs to monitor same Exchange environment? Is it possible? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi there Sadda, The OpsMgr agent has the capability to 'multi-home' itself to up to four different Operations Manager Management Groups. This functionality is ideal for allowing two different departments to monitor the same Exchange environment however you must be aware that there can only be one instance of an OpsMgr agent on a computer. What this means is that you can have: The same OpsMgr 2007 R2 agent pointing to two different OpsMgr 2007 R2 management groups An upgraded OpsMgr 2012 agent pointing to two different OpsMgr 2012 management groups or An upgraded OpsMgr 2012 agent pointing to both the OpsMgr 2007 R2 management group and also to the OpsMgr 2012 management group If you are deploying OpsMgr 2012, then it's best to upgrade the Exchange server agents to that version and allow them to communicate to the different management groups. It's easier to configure multi homing with the OpsMgr 2012 agent too as it can be easily configured throught the control panel GUI on each server. Also, check out this post from Marnix on mutli-homing: http://thoughtsonopsmgr.blogspot.ie/2011/08/dude-where-is-multi-home-option-for.html Kevin
