Is it possible to configure an SMS Channel without attaching an external modem?
Hey Tom. There is modems that can be hooked up to the network. Or if you have a serial or USB modem you can get a "converter". I have used MultiTech modems, and they have worked really well! There is some e-mail to sms services online, but what if your e-mail system goes offline or if you loose your internet connection. You could also be able to use a online SMS-service and then use the command line notification channel. mats.w | www.opsmode.com

Hi mats.w, My goal is to get SMS text working without having to rely on our Exchange environment - ie, if Exhchange goes down we would never receive the SMS text. So, it looks like I woud have two options: 1) Setup a modem by using a USB converter and then finish the configurations by follow this link http://svintinner.blogspot.com/2008/02/how-to-configure-scom-2007-to-send-sms.html 2) Subscribe to an online SMS-service and then use the command line notification channel. Can you help me understand more about the command line notification channel and how that would get configured to communicate with an "online SMS-service"? Thanks, TomTom Martin Email: tmartin@caa.com

Hello, We are running our SCOM 2007 R2 enviroment on Windows 2008 R2 systems. We need to get the SMS channel configured and I wanted to know if this can be done without having to connect an external modem? We are running a virtual environment, so connecting an external modem to a virtualized RMS is not going to be possible. Thanks, TomTom Martin Email: tmartin@caa.com
