Is My Site Going to Expire in 180 Days?
Hello I have just finally managed to get SCCM 2007 R2 installed and functional after much work but now I'm wondering if my site is still using the trail key and will expire. The only disk I had was the RTM edition and I knew I needed a slipstreamed disk with SP2 to install on Server 208 R2 so I downloaded the trial thinking I would be able to enter my proper key during setup but I couldn't and can see no way to change it now either. Posts on the internet seem to suggest that you need to do a reinstall. It's taken ages to get it to work properly and I don't really want to have to reinstall it. I did install my proper R2 update disk over the top which had the proper serial embeded in the setup so does this replace the other serial or will my site still expire in 180 days and do I need to do a reinstall of the whole site? If I do need to reinstall do I need to uninstall the program first? Plus I am still left with the fact that my RTM disk with the proper serial embedded won't work in Server 2008 R2. I could find no information on slipstreaming SP2 into the disk image either. How do you go about checking the licensing? Thanks RobinRobin Wilson

No need to reinstall to get up to the full version; you can do in place upgrade once you get the real media. The in-place upgrade in painless and relatively quick but start working on getting the real media now. You should be able to download it from the MVLS site though -- no need to wait for a physical disk.Jason | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jsandys | http://blogs.catapultsystems.com/jsandys/default.aspx | Twitter @JasonSandys

Hello Jason Does the R2 serial replace the RTM one though as if it does then I will not need to go through a reinstall. Also as I have installed R2 already wouldn't I need to uninstall that as the in place upgrade would in fact be performing a downgrade. Is there no way to check the current licensing of the product? Please can someone confirm if this is the case as I don't want to do a reinstall if I do not need to? I don't have an integrated SP2 disk anyway. Not sure if I can do a repair install now I have applied R2 as well. Thanks RobinRobin Wilson

Why don't you download the SP2 integrated media from the MVLS site? R2 is just a "feature-pack" add-on. When you install it, all it does is enable things already included in the code base of SP1. After doing an in-place upgrade, which is truly painless and keeps everything in tact, you can just reinstall R2.Jason | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jsandys | http://blogs.catapultsystems.com/jsandys/default.aspx | Twitter @JasonSandys

Ok thanks but the serial which was integrated into the R2 disk was the proper non-trial serial but does that only apply to the R2 bits or the whole thing? I would just rather not have to reinstall if I don't have to and I'm not sure how to find out what the current license is. Thanks RobinRobin Wilson
