Invisible File Upload
I have several users that have uploaded files that do not appear in the document library. However, when I try and upload files with the same name I receive an error message because the file is supposedly checked out to the user who tried to upload it. I can't figure out how to check in the file when it is invisible to me. Any help?

Those files were evidently uploaded to a library that either has multiple content types or required fields. If a user uploads files to that location and doesn't choose a content type or fill in the required fields then the files are left in a checked out state where they can only be seen by the user who uploaded them. This is a common occurrence when using the multiple file upload feature since there is no way to set metadata or choose a content type directly when uploading multiple files. If you are the administrator then you can go to the library settings of the library where the files are and click on the link in the right column for managing documents with no checked in version. That will give you a list of the documents that are invisible in that library. You can then do what is necessary to check them in. After that they will be visible to everyone.Paul Stork SharePoint Server MVP Senior Solutions Architect: BlueChip Consulting Group Blog: http://dontpapanic.com/blog Twitter: Follow @pstork Please remember to mark your question as "answered" if this solves your problem.
