Interupted Download

If a client starts downloading a package from non protected BITS enabled DP (ie in the data centre) and moves to an office with a Branch DP (different subnet and protected)  before the download completes, will the client continue to download from the BITS DP or change to BDP ?

All FAST connections

I think it will continue the BITS download as that information is already at the client, and that DP is still available even tho there is a "better fit" BDP -  can anyone confirm(or not) this please

Im guessing for the reverse, it will fail and try to download from the data centre as the protected DP will obviously now not be available ?

If the client is interrupted and is moved to a new site and turned on then it will check to see where the files are located.  It should see the branch location is the correct DP and pull via the method on the DP.

When the client moves to the new office it will pull via SMB from the branch dp because this is how it transfers files.

Because the original DP is protected the machine will pull from the next closes and correct DP.

[correction] I was thinking about a DP in a Branch location not a Bran

Hi Matthew

thanks for the reply

so for definite, any of the existing checkpoint restart data held at the client from the BITS download will be disregarded, and new DP evaluation will take place at the new "geographic site" , and even tho this BITS DP is still available to the client, the local Branch DP will now be #1 choice (as its on the same subnet) and the download will re-start over SMB ?

I just been to be very clear on this.

thanks again
