Hi, When creating SSP administrator site, you can select a existing web application from the list or create a new web application. Please try to check central admin > operation > services on server >Windows SharePoint Services web application was started on Application server which was required on where you are creating SSP. If it has not been started, started the services; if it has been started, stop and restart the services. If it is not the issue, please check if there is any other error logged in ULS logs located in “%COMMONPROGRAMFILES%\Microsoft Shared\Web server extensions\12\LOGS” and application event viewer. Let me know the result.Xue-Mei Chang

Thanks Aliusmankhan1.I had same problem and after reading your blog i realized that i did not created 'Alias (CNAME)' for ssp admin and mysite. So i created those and restarted my moss server and it worked fine. Once again thanks all your help.If somebody needs help with creating Alias in DNS. Follow below steps-- go to your DNS-- Under Forward Lookup Zones-- right click on your domain-- select 'New Alias (CNAME)' ...-- Under Alias Name, enter the name of your ssp (note: make sure it same name as your ssp admin site, example if your ssp admin site is (http://ssp/admin) then make sure your enter 'SSP' for your name)-- Browse the "Fully qualified domain name'-- Select your domain-- Select your moss computer (Make sure you have created host in DNS for your computer where your moss is installed)-- Click 'OK'-- Restart your computer/server where moss is installed.-- try to go ssp admin site and you should be to go there.
