Interface Data shown but no Server Name (Port Stitching?)
I have an issue where Ive discovered my switches, and Im seeing data but I dont see what server is connected to that port. Do I need to enable something for that? BTW- my servers are showing as agent monitored and also windows operating system monitored. I cant seem to find anything anywhere other than this feature is called "Port stitching". Thanks!!

what version of scom server 2007 R2 / 2012? scom 2007 R2 does not support to provide this information. SCOM 2012 is depends on whether the built-in management pack is support on your model of switch. Roger

Microsoft.Windows.Server.NetworkDiscovery and Microsoft.Windows.Client.NetworkDiscovery These are 2 MP's that are required for default monitoring in 2012. ~Cheers, Rohit Kochher

Hey Sorry mate, check http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh212935.aspx In SCOM COnsole, in administration pane, click on Management packs and below are given are ID's of those MP's and their display name should be similar. Required Management Packs Network discovery and monitoring requires the following management packs, which are installed with Operations Manager: Microsoft.Windows.Server.NetworkDiscoveryMicrosoft.Windows.Client.NetworkDiscovery There are additional management packs that are required to relate network devices to each other and to the agent computers they are connected to. Network monitoring requires discovery of the network adapter for each agent computer, which is performed by the management pack for the agent computers operating system. Verify that the management packs from the following list are installed for each of the operating systems in your environment. Windows Server 2003 Operating System Windows Server 2008 Operating System Windows 7 Client Operating Systems Windows Vista Client Operating Systems ~Cheers, Rohit Kochher

Hi " dont see what server is connected to that port. " .. do you mean in the networking dashboards? If so, is it a windows server with a SCOM agent installed that is connected to that port as I think that is all that will show? Steve Halsey has a good article on this: http://blogs.technet.com/b/momteam/archive/2011/09/20/what-gets-monitored-with-system-center-operations-manager-2012-network-monitoring.aspx Cheers GrahamRegards Graham New System Center 2012 Blog! - http://www.systemcentersolutions.co.uk View OpsMgr tips and tricks at http://systemcentersolutions.wordpress.com/

I had the same problem, I could see the windows server (which has a scom agent loaded onto it). Tried the suggestions above, with no joy. After re-running the network discovery the computer became visible in the Vicinity View. By the way my lab environment consisted of 1 PC running Hyper V, Cisco 1841 router and a Cisco 2950 switch. The switch has a physical PC plugged into the switch. regards Steve
