Integration with Biztalk
While generally this is a good practice but considering there is no such thing as BizTalk 2007 it isn't always an option. Unfortunately the product lifecycles have not always aligned properly between these two products.http://kentweare.blogspot.com

The Adapter Web Service needs to be installed on the same server as WSS/SharePoint. If you have separate BizTalk and SharePoint servers then the adapter Web Service only needs to be installed on the SharePoint Server and nothing further is required on the BizTalk Server. > considering there is no such thing as BizTalk 2007 it isn't always an option I knew I should have checked. Can we please assume I meant BizTalk 2006 ! (Which would satisfy the requirement of being developed at around the same time and in fact as already out was a known product when SP 2007 was being finalized) Mike SP 2010 "FAQ" (mainly useful links): http://wssv4faq.mindsharp.com/default.aspx WSS3/MOSS FAQ (FAQ and Links) http://wssv3faq.mindsharp.com/default.aspx Both also have links to extensive book lists and to (free) on-line chapters

Dear all, We have a MOSS installation. My colleagues in integration decided now to install BizTalk 2010. We are at the phase of installing the Windows SharePoint Services adapter Web service. So far there is some grey areas on the BizTalk documentation and on the Biztalk blogging community. So far the way I understood is either we install WSS 3.0 in the Biztalk server or we install the Windows SharePoint Services adapter Web service on the MOSS server? We want to go with the second one, but are not sure if this is possible (not to install WSS in BizTalk). If we install the Windows SharePoint Services adapter Web service on the MOSS server (this is a component on the installation of BizTalk), can someone point me in the right direction on how to do it (security/what is teh best web application to install the web services or do we create a new one?/etc). Thanks in advance. Regards,Gonalo

My experience has been that you should always try to use the same level of Microsoft Products. In this case the same level would mean using either BizTalk 2010 with SP 2010 (thus off-topic here!) or using BizTalk 2007 with MOSS server. It's up to you of course but imo you are asking for trouble by trying to combine BizTalk 2010 with MOSS.SP 2010 "FAQ" (mainly useful links): http://wssv4faq.mindsharp.com/default.aspx WSS3/MOSS FAQ (FAQ and Links) http://wssv3faq.mindsharp.com/default.aspx Both also have links to extensive book lists and to (free) on-line chapters

You tell me Mike. That's what I am trying to shoot here again and again!!!.... Meanwhile if someone could tell if it is possible to install the Windows SharePoint Services adapter Web service on the MOSS server instead of installing WSS 3.0 in the Biztalk server, I would appreciate. ThanksGonalo
