Integration Services in SQL Server 2012 not showing up in VS2010
Everyone, I have SQL Server 2008R2 and SQL Server 2012 (instanced) installed on my laptop which is windows 7 64bit. I have installed SQL Server 2012 last and already had VS 2010 installed. I installed all components with SQL Server 2012 however, when I open up VS 2010 I do not see the BI Templates. Has anyone else ran into this? I was wondering if you had any idea on how to get the BI Project Templates to show up in VS 2010. Thanks, Dex

You need to download or install SSDT. It is not the most intuitive process - but the directions are here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh500335(v=vs.103).aspx Chuck Pedretti | Magenic North Region | magenic.com

Chuck, Thank you for the helpful information. I failed to mention that I had already installed this component. I apologize for the over site. I still do not get anything when opening VS2010 other than creating a database project. I need the tools to create IS, AS and RS projects. Since I had this installed prior to 2012 I wonder if some linkage didn't get set correctly or something. Thanks, Dex

You installed the component, but did you follow this step? In the Installed Templates pane, click SQL Server. SQL Server Data Tools, Database Projects (Web Install) appears in the middle pane. Click this item and press OK. If you do not see that selection then just go to this page and download directly http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/data/hh297027 Chuck Pedretti | Magenic North Region | magenic.com

Chuck, Again, thank you for your reply. When opening VS2010, I did not find the items for the web install. so then I did go to the msdn site and click on the link above to get there. I installed the english version and still do not have anything. I am not getting what is up with this. Dex

Did you have visual studio 2010 installed on the machine before you installed SSDT? If so did you install SP1 for vs2010? You should wind up with these templates in VS 2010 once you have done the SSDT install. Chuck Pedretti | Magenic North Region | magenic.com

Thanks, I am going to reapply SP1 as it was already installed. Those items do not show up as of yet. I will let you know if they do after the reapply. Thanks, Dex

You might have to remove and reinstall SSDT after you apply SP1Chuck Pedretti | Magenic North Region | magenic.com

Well, I did reapply sp1, no change, then I removed SSDT and when I went to reinstall it, it said that I did not have sufficient permissions. So, I am going to reboot and uninstall both products and reinstall SQL Server 2012 without VS2010. Another consultant at my firm ended up having to do the same thing, because he had VS2010 already installed. Thanks for all of your help Chuck! Dex

I have everything showing up that I needed showing up. After our chat last week, I uninstalled, VS2010, then uninstalled SQL Server 2008 and 2012, I then installed SS 2012 and everything was as it should be.
