Installing from USB to VHD error 0x80300024

I followed the older guides for installing Windows 8.1 to VHD. After I create and attach the vhd using Diskpart, I get the following error message:

We couldn't install Windows in the location you chose. Please check your media drive. Here's more info about what happened: 0x80300024.

Any suggestions?

Hi bryantmiller,

You mean that you Install from USB to VHD, whats the real meaning? Can you give us more information about your steps?

here I suggest a blog which many users have successfully installed windows into VHD for native boot:

I used this guide:

http://www.neowin.net/news/guide-how-to-install-windows-10-using-vhds

Near the end of the guide (steps 7 and 8), after you have selected the vdisk and added the vdisk, I try to choose the vdisk (vhd) for install and that's then the error message pops up.
