Installing Win7 SP1 as an Install Software task in TS
Right now im trying to install my Win7 SP1 as an Install Software tasks in my current TS, I have downloaded the Win7 SP1 .exe file and converted to .msi, but it seems that it is stuck somehow and cannot proceed. There is no error but it is stuck for 3-4 hours at the Win7 SP1 task that i've created in my Wipe and Load TS. So i assuming it is not working... So now, i was thinking to install the Win7 SP1 through software update. I have the Win7 SP1 update, but how to include it inside my TS, cause i want to able to select ONLY the Win7 SP1 update. But when select the Install Software Update task, there is only 2 options to select, which is Mandatory Software Update and All Updates. Is there a way to include software updates individually in my TS?

HI, I would download the Windows 7 media with SP1 included and rebuild the master image. Is that not possible in your scenario? It will be much faster and more reliable. Regards, Jörgen-- My System Center blog ccmexec.com -- Twitter @ccmexec

Yup, actually i have the Win7 SP1 image, but the image include IE9, which we dont want to deploy to live users yet as we've encountered several issues with IE9 working in our current environment.... So as a workaround solution, the thing that i have in mind is to either install it through Install Software task or through Install Software Update task... But, as i said above, when i tried to include the SP1 .exe as install software task, it stuck at the task and will not proceed. So the 2nd workaround, is through software update task. But problem is, can i install ONLY the SP1 update? Because in the Software Update task, there's only 2 options, which is All mandatory update and All software update, which i do not want....? Or maybe there's a script to do this?

Are you saying that *your* image with SP1 includes IE9? Why not create a new image? IE9 is not a default component in Windows 7 SP1. Using a build & capture task sequence to create a new image is easy enough. Trying to add SP1 to the task sequence is painful at best and simply not the recommended course -- there are far too many chicken and egg problems with doing this as well as dramatically increasing deployment time.Jason | http://myitforum.com/myitforumwp/community/members/jasonsandys/ | Twitter @JasonSandys

Yes, my current Win7 SP1 include IE9 bundled in together inside the image Ok, so there is no way that i can install the SP1 update individually through TS right... Im really confuse why it got stuck and cannot proceed because there's no error pop up. But, im able to execute the sp1 .exe outside of the task sequence... Its just that when I include it as part of the TS, it wont able to proceed... hmm... BTW, how to do a build and capture TS? Do i have to create 1 reference SP1 machine first?

You can integrate SP1 to windows 7 RTM in offline. All what you need is mount Windows 7 RTM using DISM and add package KB976932 with .cab extension. http://www.urtech.ca/2011/05/solved-how-to-slipstream-inject-service-pack-1-for-windows-7-into-an-existing-rtm-build-dvd-wim/
