Installing WSS 3.0 to use SQL Server 2008
Hi What options do I have to choose if I want WSS 3.0 to use SQL Server 2008 instead of "Windows Internal database"?

Hi, At the time of installation select web front end / complete installation instead stand alone installation. And after that when you run SharePoint Products and Technologies wizard it will ask you to select Database server name you can put SQL server 2008 instance name to connect WSS 3.0 to it. Hope this helps. Regards, Pratik Vyas | SharePoint Consultant | http://sharepointpratik.blogspot.com/

All good Pratik but it is wise to install SQL Server 2008 *before* you install WSS 3.0 so you have an instance name you can specify during the SP installation. Also to get to the options you mention Advanced Installation (of WSS 3.0) needs to first be specified. With Basic you do not get those options.SP 2010 "FAQ" (mainly useful links): http://wssv4faq.mindsharp.com/default.aspx WSS3/MOSS FAQ (FAQ and Links) http://wssv3faq.mindsharp.com/default.aspx Both also have links to extensive book lists and to (free) on-line chapters
