Installing Sharepoint 2007 on Windows Server 2008 R2
hi, we are using in our lab a clean installation of Windows Server 2008 R2 which is running as Hyper-V instance. Today we wanted to install a clean installation of Sharepoint 2007 with SP1 on this machine and we exploreran error that we are not able to install it. The setup is comes up with an error which is described here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/962935but this is not our szenario. A printscreen of this message can be found here: http://www.ronischuetz.com/images/SP_2007SP1_Inst_Error.png@Microsoft,my personal point of view is thatit cannot be that we need to install first 2008, then Sharepoint 2007 with SP1, then SP2 andupgrade to2008 R2.Nobody is going be happy with this solution and I hopewefind a fast way howcustomers can install Sharepoint direclty on 2008 R2.Anyway, thanks inadvance for any further information how we shouldgo on with this issue.thanks in advance, roni
kind regards, roni [http://netrsc.blogspot.com/]

> I am not sure whether MOSS with SP2 is available or notAs far as I know (and I follow MS downloads for my WSS FAQ site) it still isn't available. (WSS 3.0 + SP2 is available)I would only use slipstream if installing to a new Win server 2008 R2. If installing to a Non-R2 server 2008, I would install MOSS+SP1; upgrade that to SP2 and then upgrade the OS. Why bother with creating a slipstream installation when there is a route available to you involving ready-made products. But that's just my opinion.WSS FAQ sites: http://wssv2faq.mindsharp.com and http://wssv3faq.mindsharp.com

Watch out onguest VMsif you do create a slipstream installation and burn that installation folder to DVD.I was still getting the KB962935 blockage when using the DVD as a pass through Disk from the host or when mapping the Host DVD player to the guest VM.Copying the slipstream installation folder to the virtual machine allowed it to run.Possible bad media or Hyper-V quirk, strange but true.
