Installing SSRS 2008 with already EXISTING Sharepoint 2007 instace?
I must admit I have researched a bit but keep coming into a block I am not seeing mentioned when attempting to do this: Install a NEW SSRS instance on a NEW machine of 2008 to working with an EXISTING sharepoint 2007 site. 1. I go through the install of SSRS 2008 SP1 on a VM of MS Server 2008 64 bit. 2. The install goes fine and has no errors, then you get to the menu option of install that states: Pic for choices A. Install the Native Mode B. Install the Sharepoint Mode C. Insall, but do not configure. 3. I choose option B and install completes. 4. I go to the SSRS Config manager and attempt to go to the Web Service URL and it states a SharePoint Assembly is missing??? Pic for Reference Assembly Error My issues are that I have in the past on numerous occasions gotten a stand alone of SSRS 2008 with no issues. I have not found anything yet that mentions installing SSRS with an existing Sharepoint site or when prompted by Sharepoint to provide the URL of the web service and have it work. Do you need to install SharePoint on both this server and an existing server? The problem is also that I am very ignorant of SharePoint but I understand SQL fairly well for SSRS and admin tasks. I am not in direct control of the SharePoint server and the person keeps asking me for the Web Service URL, I give them the default, it fails. Should I just tell him to create a directory on the SharePoint server to BE THE WEB SERVICE URL and then add a reference to that in the SSRS config manager? Should I install some small amount of Sharepoint on this server? I am at a loss as a lot of online step by step configs assume you are building both at time of install or on the same machine. Then they completely skip over steps of referencing the WEB Service URL which is integral for any deployment process. Any help is much appreciated, thanks!Medium to Advanced on some things, but always wanting to know more

I have followed all the sites but they assume at parts they just work and they DO NOT. I have a domain account I wish to use when installing the SSRS server but it will not let me use that account so I use system. I have the Sharepoint Front End set up to use an 'existing server farm' and it's mapped. Big problem is after account is installed the WebService URL states this: The report server has encountered a configuration error. If the report server is configured to use SharePoint integrated mode, verify that the server is joined to a SharePoint farm and that the Report Server service account has been granted access to the SharePoint farm. (rsServerConfigurationError) Get Online Help I have gone back and forth with this with someone that knows Sharepoint but doesn't know SQL. I know SQL but I don't know Sharepoint. Honestly I just am wondering if the default URL: http://(servername)/ReportServer will ever work. I saw someone else list: http://(servername)/ReportServer$portal What step am I missing? Does Sharepoint need more info or does the default database of Sharepoint come into the SSRS database as I thought they were seperate? I have so many questions and these walkthroughs are basically like: "Now that you did this move on." ..... Wait mine did not work there what now? I have a front end Sharepoint Site NOT hosting that just exists as part of the farm and an SSRS instance set to the defaults but Sharepoint does not seem to know about it. So..... how do I make it know about it? DO I need to use a different URL? Giving me links to the step by steps is helpful but I am failing at the step of the web url being acknowledged.Medium to Advanced on some things, but always wanting to know more

Hi Djangojazz2, You can install them on different server or same server depend on your requirement, after integreated into Sharepoint, report manager will lose its function, we cannot open report manager's URL, to the error of yours, it seems you have not configured the report server database, for the detail steps about this, you can refer to this article http://mosshowto.blogspot.com/2009/01/integrating-sql-server-2008-reporting.html More information about Reporting Services with SharePoint Integration, please see: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee210649.aspx Thanks, Challen FuPlease remember to mark the replies as answers if they help and unmark them if they provide no help.
