Installing MOSS 2007 on Windows Server 2008 R2 64 bit
I'm building a production SP server after successfully building a test SP server. Unfortunately, the same installs I used to build the test server are now being blocked when I attempt to install them. Both macines are running Win Server 2008 R2 64 bit. When I attempt to install MOSS 2007 64 bit i get the following message: This program is blocked due to compatiblity issues. It references kb962935, which discusses an issue with upgrading to Win Server 2008 R2, and gives me the option of Checking for Solutions Online or Canceling. Checking for Solutions online results in a message that says "No solutions were found". I think you know what Canceling does. So I've been searching high and low and round and round for the magic patch without luck. I've installed what I thought was MOSS 2007 w SP2 64 bit, but at the end it said No Products Affected. I've also installed kb967642, kb953334, and bk954711 all of which returned messages that said No Products Affected. Sooo, is this reaaaally supposed to be this painful??

If you are taking the following option from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/962935 , you should first install WSS 3.0 SP2, and then MOSS 2007 SP2, and then run the configuration wizard. Notice that you should install both service packs. Upgrade Option 1: Upgrade to Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 Service Pack 2. Then, install Windows Server 2008 R2. The server is NOT being upgraded. It is already a Windows 2008 R2 64bit machine and I'm attempting to install MOSS 2007 for the first time, however, when I attempt to run the MOSS 2007 install it is blocked by Windows and doesn't allow me to proceed. I've looked for MOSS 2007 w SP2 but have not found it. I have SP2 for MOSS 2007, but it does me no good because I cannot install MOSS 2007.

I believe I installed WSS 3.0 sp2. However, Add/Remove Programs doesn't indicate that WSS 3.0 is SP2. It's currently showing version 12.0.6425.1000. Is that WSS 3.0 SP2?

Followed the blog and created the slipstream. When i went to install it on the server (Windows 2008 R2 x64) I got the an error something to the affect of: Please use a 64 bit installation to install this software I'm guessing OfficerServer.exe is 32 bit? I've got a 64 bit version of MOSS 2007 but it's on a dvd and there is no OfficerServer.exe file. So what next?

Hi Gu, In this post you mention the option of upgrading Server 2008 SP2 with SharePoint Server 2007 SP2 to Server 2008 R2 -- can that be done? I thought I had come across an article saying that upgrade isn't supported... do you happen to know specifics about how the upgrade can negatively affect SharePoint? Thanks!
