Installing File Watcher Task on Windows 7
Hi, I hope someone could help on this. I installed the File Watcher Task on my old Windows XP development machine. And everything was fine. But when I tried to install the File Watcher Task onto my new Windows 7 Professional machine, the installation was aborted with error message "Requires .Net Framework 2.0 and SQL Server Integration Services". Though on the new machine, there is no any SQL Server instance or service installed, only the client tools - e.g. SSMS, BIDS...etc. I already installed 2005 sp3, and apart from the "File Watcher Task" that cannot be installed, all the other standard components are working fine, packages can be built and executed within BIDS. I'm just wondering if I have to install the SSIS Service on my local PC to get the File Watcher Task installed? or this error message is due to something else? Thanks a lot in advance.

I recommend don't use third party tasks, just use WMI Event Watcher Task for watching a folder or file, here you can find a sample: http://www.sqlservercentral.com/Forums/Topic473313-148-1.aspxhttp://www.rad.pasfu.com

Thanks Reza. I absolutely understand and agree with your point - "don't use third party tasks". But I'm just looking for quick solution for some existing packages on which I don't want to spend any more time. Cheers.

Just got it working. Though I'm member of local administrator group, I don't have permission in GAC; where the installation requires write permission to that folder. I used domain admin account to install it on my PC.
