Installing Exchange 2007 Mgmt tools on FIM in a 2010 organisation
Hi, I've hit a few snags. I need to sync gals between 2 forests one with Exchange 2010 and one with Exchange 2007. I believe that FIM requires 2007 Mgmt tools to create the contacts from 2010 in the 2007 org however when I try and install them it is not supported because it sees the 2010 org and cannot see the 2007 org (FIM server is joined to the domain with Exchange 2010). Does anyone know a way around this without reinstalling in the other domain? Also would no mgmt tools be why I receive a staging error? I do get the 2007 users populated as contacts in the 2010 org. My other question is does FIM sort out the availabilty service for outlook clients or does this need to be done seperately. I have run through the configuring availabilty service kb for untrusted forests but no luck so far. I am having trouble working out good ways of testing the certificates and autodiscover service it requires. From the 2010 org if I look at one of the imported contacts in the scheduling assistant through outlook I get all \\\'s and it says the recipient's server could not be determined. Thanks for any ideas on this.

You'll ahve to temporarily put the FIM box in a forest with Exchange 2007 to load the tools. As far as the availability service, FIM doesn't really do anything here. I can't remember if this works off of targetAddress or something else - if targetAddress GALSync will set this for you.My Book - Active Directory, 4th Edition My Blog - www.briandesmond.com
