Installing Cumulative Update on agents manually
Hi All We are applying CU6 to agents. Since most of the agents are manually deployed and we have firewakl issues, we cannot update agents from console. Now we need to update agents manually on these servers. I read blogs on creating small package for only agent related files from entire extracted CU folder. And it is mentioned to manually copy that folder on each agent and run the command to upgrade agent. Kevin's blog Is there a way to do this without copying files to all agents?~Cheers, Rohit Kochher

Not sure, but maybe you could try to script it where you map to a share that has the bits and then does the command line install of the agent? Just a guess. There have been issues when installing agents if the bits are not local.Regards, Blake Email: mengotto<at>hotmail.com Blog: http://discussitnow.wordpress.com/

Hi, Please try putting the package in network share which the agents can access. Then, try the installation referring to the command. Hope this helps. Thanks. Nicholas Li TechNet Community Support

Hi Rohit The problem with all the "scripting" responses is that they still need access to the setup files. Opening up ports for File Sharing will still require firewall exceptions to be setup so that the manually installed agents can run setup. SCCM could also be a potential option (or Orchestrator). Are these servers virtual or physical? If virtual then you could potentially create an iso for the setup files and mount the iso image to manually run setup (or script it against the path to the iso image). There would still be a lot of manual work involved though.
