Installed Software Updates not reporting correctly
We are running into an issue where our compliance numbers aren't being reported correctly. Machines are being reported as non-compliant, when they really aren't. When I dig into a handful of them, SCCM is showing that certain updates aren't installed, but when I remote into those machines and go into installed Updates, they appear to be installed. What can I do from here? I check the UpdatesStore.log file and I can see the specific line "Update status from update (36451b50-3f6f-48cb-89d0-ee69ff62a67f) already exists, will modify existing instance." which makes me think that it is already installed (maybe i'm wrong). Any help would be much appreciated!

Hi,

It could be that the computer hasn't restarted after the installation of the update if a reboot is required. What if you trigger a new scan is the the status updated then?

The update in question here actually shows an install date of back in January and the machine has rebooted several times since then. I've manually run both a Software Update Scan and Software Update Deployment Evaluation with no change.

I can try uninstalling/reinstall the SCCM client, but we have over 100 machines that are displaying the same symptom.

Hi,

Have you examined the StateMessage.log?

For more information, please review the link below:

State Messages don't point me in any direction. No errors and nothing that tells me the messages weren't sent/received correctly.

I'll be opening a case with Microsoft and letting you know what we find.

Thanks!
