Installation of Applications to Workgroup Computer

In the task sequence, I am trying to install applications while the computer to be imaged is not joined to the domain but is a member of a workgroup.

The error is 0x80004005.

I read on another website to add the client properties of SMSSITECODE in the "Setup Windows and ConfigMgr" step, but then an error message pops up and says "Installation properties can not include SMSSITECODE or SMSPROVISIONINGMODE".

If in the task sequence, I changed to join to the domain, then OSD completes successfully with all software installs.

How do I install applications if the computer does not join to the domain?

You need to use the SMSMP property to specify the management point.

I have already put SMSMP in the "Setup Windows and ConfigMgr" properties, but am getting the error 0x80004005.

That error code is meaningless. Please post the complete, unedited, and relevant snippet from smsts.log showing the activity and failure.

Are there other logs that provide more clues as to what failed?

The only change I made between the successful deployment and the failed deployment is changing the network setting from joining the domain to joining a workgroup.

My current properties in the step "Setup Windows and ConfigMgr" is "DISABLESITEOPT=TRUE SMSMP=SCCM.DOMAIN.ADS"

Is there other logs that I need to look at for the error?

The above snippet does not show the actual error that caused the TS to fail -- it shows the error handling portion of the Task Sequence.

Hello Jason, where do I need to look at for the actual error?

You should have a smsts.log file with a date this should be the one we need. Also can look at the appenforce.log

I have put the C:\Windows\CCM\Logs\SMSTSLog\SMSTS.log at http://1drv.ms/1S8oYL7

In appenforce.log, there are only multiple entries of "The package with GUID xxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxx is not installed on this machine yet"

During imaging, I opened up the command line and is able to resolve the FQDN of the Management Point.

Other logs needed to troubleshoot?

Well looking at the log we can see the application  Real Alternative as failed during the install. This issue is base on the application what i suggest is looking at the log of the application installation.

If you are using a MSI use the l*v c:\locationtoset.log this will tell you why the application failed.

Aside from that application, nothing else installed.
The computer was able to reboot to windows log in.  And checking Control Panel, Programs, there is nothing.

C:\Windows\ccmcache is empty.

I solved the problem where applications did not install if the computer did not join to the domain.

I had to enable "Allow clients to connect anonymously" for the DP.
