I don't think this is enough.I am fairly sure that there was a blog item from a MS Germany guy which MS people referred their customers to which specified that you need to install both the WSS 3.0 and the MOSS Language Packs.(and that the order could (should?) be WSS LP, MOSS LP, WSS LP SP1; MOSS LP SP1)The other point is that the suggested list takes you up to the patched state at the end of the year. Since then there have been several Cumulative Upgrades including the recent February Uber Upgrade.----------------------I also wonder about whether there is a need for a WSS 3.0 infrastrucutre / cumulative upgrade as well as the MOSS ones. That was necessary for the Service Packs for instance if you started at MOSS 2007 with no SP.(Marking back to not answered until the above questions are resolved so that other people can see the need to comment in this thread)WSS FAQ sites: WSS 2.0: http://wssv2faq.mindsharp.com WSS 3.0 and MOSS 2007: http://wssv3faq.mindsharp.com Total list of WSS 3.0 and MOSS 2007 Books (including foreign language titles) http://wssv3faq.mindsharp.com/Lists/v3%20WSS%20FAQ/V%20Books.aspx

I am fairly certain that you need Infrastructure Update even with SP1 but you do mke a point where Infrastructure Update might be included in the cumulative.I think i agree with you on the Language Packs, since WSS and MOSS are 2 distinct products makes sense, thanksBenjamin Niaulin

Obviously you are reading thisI also wonder about whether there is a need for a WSS 3.0 infrastrucutre / cumulative upgrade as well as the MOSS ones.in a different way than I intended it to be read.I didn't mean that you don't need the Intrastructure upgrade. What I meant was that I would imagine that (if there is one) you would need the WSS 3.0 Infrastructure as well as the MOSS Infrastructure upgrade.-----------That said, I've never understood why a cumulative upgrade pack would still mean that you need the infrastructure upgrade. I would imagine that cumulative means everything since the SP1 (certainly surely that's what an Cumulative Uber Upgrade means! But I don't know. All I do know is that I wish Microsoft would stop thinking up new names and go back to having SPs and fix packs between SPs. This is getting to be nonsensical. With monthly cumulative packs (and now two one non-uber one uber!) everyone in the world is probably on a different release. (Which make support both here and for MS CSS a nightmare).(rant over)WSS FAQ sites: WSS 2.0: http://wssv2faq.mindsharp.com WSS 3.0 and MOSS 2007: http://wssv3faq.mindsharp.com Total list of WSS 3.0 and MOSS 2007 Books (including foreign language titles) http://wssv3faq.mindsharp.com/Lists/v3%20WSS%20FAQ/V%20Books.aspx

It's good to be able to do more than moderate once in a while.By the way I am just tidying my desk and I found a "Planning and Deploying Service Pack1 for MOSS 2007 [that's in full] in a Multi-Server Environment" paper from Dec 2007 that clearly states (emphasised note) that you need to install both the WSS 3.0 and the MOSS 2007 SP1 Language Packs.Just to confirm what I indicated already and you already accepted.WSS FAQ sites: WSS 2.0: http://wssv2faq.mindsharp.com WSS 3.0 and MOSS 2007: http://wssv3faq.mindsharp.com Total list of WSS 3.0 and MOSS 2007 Books (including foreign language titles) http://wssv3faq.mindsharp.com/Lists/v3%20WSS%20FAQ/V%20Books.aspx

Can i ask for your help one more time? heheWell following the installation everything seems to have gone well. Now i am setting up my services...but Windows SharePoint Services Search does not want to start "This server is not the indexer of this search application."Heres the facts.-Same Server install but not StandAlone install-Service Account and Content Access Account are the same domain user-DB seems to have been created and the service account is part of DBowner-In Windows Services, the service is started and running under th service account-EventViewer Error LoadBalancer.RegisterLauncher failed: Unable to connect to the remote serverand This server is not the indexer of this search application (the assigned indexer is 'SharepointSQL'). Context: Application '98858929-b4c2-492e-b14b-9e56715a38aa'Note that for the installation, i created and alias for my server "SharepointSQL" which points to my netbios and used the alias during installation. Thanks againBenjamin Niaulin

First you started Load Balancer in the wrong sequence. Go to Central Admin, Operations, Services on Server. See the two Load balancer services? Click the second one first. It will start. Now click the top one, which is the first service listed. Choose the correct server using the little drop down arrow. That is fixed now. Ok, now you need to configure your SSP. Go to Applications page. Click edit this Farms SSP. you now where you can see the SSPs for the farm. Now click edit on your SSP. There should be a drop down arrow when you hover over the name of your SSP. Just to clarify do not go to the SSP. Go to the CA, Applications tab and click edit this Farms ssp. Ok, back to work, once you can edit the SSP just pick the right indexer and click ok. Now go back to the Applications page and click web applications. Click each ones content db and make sure it is associated with the right indexer. For good measure go to your SSP and start a new crawl. Everything should work now. Well, at lest the items you pointed out should work.Andy A.

why are you installing wss before moss? its already contained within moss. I think it should be in this order. (I always try both wss and moss lang packs & sp1. the installer already checks if you need it, or you already have it on the system etc..) Install MOSS with SP1 install wss french language pack Install MOSS French Language Pack install wss french lang pack sp1 Install MOSS French Language Pack SP1 Install WSS 3.0 Infrastructure Update Install MOSS Infrastructure Update Install December Cumulative Updateceren
