The R2 version of ConfigMgr is not supported on SQL 2008 yet as far as I know ("not supported" != "does not work at all" ;-) )See rsetup.log andSRSRPSetup.log if the installation was successful.

Hello, it sure? Can you tell me where he said that is not supported? In this link :http://technet.microsoft.com/es-es/library/cc161851(en-us).aspxWrite: "2 When SQLServer2008 is used to host the site database for a ConfigurationManager2007R2 installation, it is recommended that you install the update described in Microsoft article ID 957576 located at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=134675." I believe this indicates that supported?and this: SQL Server Site Database Configurations When installing Configuration Manager 2007SP1, the site database can be installed on either the default instance or a named instance of a supported SQLServer version installation. The instance used to host the site database can also be configured as a SQL Server failover cluster instance in an active/passive cluster configuration. It is supported to perform an in-place upgrade of the SQLServer2005SP2 instance hosting the Configuration Manager 2007site database to SQLServer2008. For more information about changing site server software, see How to Change Site Server Software. Additionally, it is supported to move the site database to a new SQLServer2008 instance. For information about moving the site database, see How to Move the Site Database. Important When using SQLServer2008 to host the site database for Configuration Manager 2007SP1 sites, the following update must be applied to the site server computer, SMS Provider computer, and any computers hosting a remote Configuration Manager 2007SP1 Configuration Manager console: Microsoft article ID955262 at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=134674. In SMS2003, the mppublish.vbs script, supplied with the SMS2003 installation files, was used to configure Microsoft SQL Server site database replication between the site database server and SQL Server site database replicas used to support management points and server locator points. Because Configuration Manager 2007 introduces new site database views and functions that are not replicated by the mppublish.vbs script, it is not supported for configuring SQL Server site database replication in Configuration Manager 2007 sites. For information about how to configure replication to support management points and server locator points, see How to Configure SQL Server Site Database Replication.

My bad. (The second text you quoted is only talking about SP1 - not R2, but the first link indicates that it's supported)Did you have a look at the logfiles I mentioned?

I'm seeing this same error message show upwith SCCM 2007 R2 but with SQL 2005 SP2. I believe that this error started as soon as I added the Reporting Point role. Here's the last entry in the srsrp.log file. Does anyone have an idea as to why this error is occurring? Should I remove and then re-create the Reporting Point and Reporting Services Point roles? I have verified that I can run reports and view dashboards without a problem. I'm a little concerned about just ignoring this error. I don't have any custom reports created yet. I do have one dashboard that I've created but could easily re-create if needed. Thanks

Ditto! I have- Windows 2008 R2 64bit, SQL 2005 64bit SP2, SCCM R2. All on one server along with WSUS. Following other forums i have Instance id: MSSQL.3, Instance name: MSSQLSERVER, Report Manager URL: http://sccm/reports, report server url: http://sccm/reportserver, Edition ID: -1534726760 I keep getting SMS_SRS_Reporting_Point errors saying Exactly the same thing. I have no Reporting Site node in SCCM Manager console, just Reporting \ Dashboards and Reports and lots or these errors. All this is happening on hte one machine and in the default db. Anyone have any ideas PLEASE! Thanks

Andrey, I had this error come up because you need IIS on the SQL server. Once I setup IIS similar to the SCCM sites, it worked fine.

SCCM and SQL installed on the same server (IIS also). Is there way to instal SRSP manualy? (with msi?)
December 22nd, 2010 9:19am

Running into the same problem I just did a clean install of sccm SP2 on one server running 2008R2, the SQL server is SQL 2008R2 running also on Windows 2008R2. After the install i installed the R3 update and i think most hotfixes. I was doing the initial configuration and when i tried to install the reporting service on the SCCM site server i got this from the SRSRPSetup.log <03-01-2011 17:00:27> ==================================================================== <03-01-2011 17:00:27> SMSSRSRP Setup Started.... <03-01-2011 17:00:27> Parameters: C:\PROGRA~2\MICROS~2\bin\i386\ROLESE~1.EXE /install /siteserver:NTMQ1042 SMSSRSRP <03-01-2011 17:00:27> Installing Pre Reqs for SMSSRSRP <03-01-2011 17:00:27> ======== Installing Pre Reqs for Role SMSSRSRP ======== <03-01-2011 17:00:27> Found 0 Pre Reqs for Role SMSSRSRP <03-01-2011 17:00:27> ======== Completed Installion of Pre Reqs for Role SMSSRSRP ======== <03-01-2011 17:00:27> Installing the SMSSRSRP <03-01-2011 17:00:27> Chart control detected. Installation cannot continue. <03-02-2011 10:06:20> ==================================================================== I then deleted the role from the site server and installed the Reporting Point Service on the SQL server. While it did install without problems, i tried to go in and create a Report. Every report i try to create causes the SCCM Management MMC to crash after giving the following error; Microsoft.ConfigurationManagement.Srs.SrsServer. error = Unspecified error SMS_SRS_REPORTING_POINT 01/03/2011 5:00:30 PM 3964 (0x0F7C) STATMSG: ID=7402 SEV=E LEV=M SOURCE="SMS Server" COMP="SMS_SRS_REPORTING_POINT" SYS=NTMQ1042 SITE=BIM PID=1836 TID=3964 GMTDATE=Tue Mar 01 22:00:30.449 2011 ISTR0="NTMQ1042" ISTR1="" ISTR2="" ISTR3="" ISTR4="" ISTR5="" ISTR6="" ISTR7="" ISTR8="" ISTR9="" NUMATTRS=0 SMS_SRS_REPORTING_POINT 01/03/2011 5:00:30 PM 3964 (0x0F7C) Failures reported during periodic health check by the SRS Server NTMQ1042. SMS_SRS_REPORTING_POINT 01/03/2011 5:57:30 PM 3964 (0x0F7C) I found another post on the internet of someone suggesting it might be related to .net, however the 2008R2 already has v2 built-in and since it installed on the sql server without giving the same error it doesn't seem likely. I'd appreciate any help of figuring out why its not installing on the sccm server or crashing when installed on the SQL server. thanks

- I've tried turning on .net in the features of both servers and still the same problem - I've also installed Cummulative Update 6 onto the SQL server and still no luck Would appreciate any thoughts on what is causing this. Thanks
