Inserting a Group, Losing Repeating Column Headings
Thanks for the reply, Sumit. I did try a matrix, but I don't want or need the summary and drill down. I tried working around it, and could work around the summary, but as for the drill down, apparently you cannot default the entire report to automatically open expanded without jumping through a few hoops...is that correct? Any other ideas or suggestions? Thanks, Ali

First, let me qualify this by saying I am in the process of learning SSRS Report Builder 3.0, after spending YEARS using Crystal Reports. I have written one report so far; took me awhile and I tweaked it so much I don't know that I could recreate it exactly. Also, it was a few weeks ago, and I've slept since then ;). So, the report has two groups, and two static column headings. The two static column headings and groups to appear on each page, like so: HEADINGS LEVEL 1 ......................................................... Hdg2Col1 Hdg2Col2 ..................................................... -->Repeating Group 1 ---->Repeating Group 2 data data ............................ Now, I need to modify this report, and add a third group. I want it to look exactly like the above, adding the following: ------>Repeating Group 3 When I add a row group with a header, either child or parent, it adds a column to the LEFT of all other columns (from researching, I believe it is putting it in the data region called group definition/row headers). I cannot seem to align it with my previous groups. I merge all the fields in the group header then add the field data to that text box, but when I delete the new group column I immediately lose the functionality that repeats everything at the top of all pages. I have already ensured that I am in advanced mode, and have set the static tablix member properties to RepeatOnNewPage=True and FixedData=True. I am beginning to feel a fondness for Crystal. Please HELP! I need a "SSRS for Dummies"...to be honest I find the TechNet documentation a bit heavy and verbose. Aside from help here, any really good SSRS help sites would be very welcome. TIA, Ali

Hi I think you should try to use Matrix for this requirement. for that just take matrix from tool box then you will be able to see Rows,Columns and Data over there. Now Drag the column(which have Repeating Group1,Repeating Group 2..values.) to Rows of matrix, after that drag column (which have Heading Level1,2,3...values) Into Columns after this drag the data(which have data for those group) column to data of matrix. Now you will be able to see all the things dynamically either it will be group 3 or group 4. Let me know if this helps you or not.Cheers!! Sumit
