How/where does SharePoint 2007 / IIS 2008control the redirection of a site base urlto .../Pages/default.aspx?I have a SP site that for some reason is displaying thedirectory browsing of its ...\inetpub\wwwroot\wss\VirtualDirectories directory instead of initalizing SharePoint.I did find a missing HTTP Header which should have been inherited and manually entered it but that didn't help.TIA,Marc

Although both were good suggestions, neither were executable: I had no access to the site from either direction.What I did was took a chance, deleted the application without deleting the website or content database and created a new one using them. That worked.Thanks for the reply however.Marc

Hi Marc i am having a simillar issue my sharepoitn 2007 publisghing site does not redirect to /pages/default.aspx anymore. But i my case instead of gettign directory browsing option, i get an 'UKNOWN FILE TYPE' security message . for exampke if i type in www.mysite.com it does not redirect to www.mysite.com/pages/default.aspx and displays a unknown file type message box asking users to down load file. i have tried google and even technet forum but i haent been able to resolve this for over 1 week. could you please let me know how you resolved this error?
