Information bar suddenly showing up when trying to add a custom css file
Using MOSS 2007. Our intranet has a SharePoint portal. The portal uses custom master pages with backgrounds that make the advanced search link difficult to see. The portal is secure (https). I added a CSS file that overrides the classes in core.css to change the font color of the link. The change worked, but we immediately started getting an information bar talking about running an active x control. We hadn't had that before and now we can't get rid of it. The master pages were checked out and checked in as a minor version. I later restored the versions just prior to when I made the change, removed the custom CSS file and still the information bar is showing up. The sites in the site collection are in tabs and when a user clicks on a tab to go to site, they first get a dialog asking if they want to view only content that was delivered securely. Any ideas on what is happening or how to fix it? Thanks in advance for your help

Hi, According to your description, when you edit master through the CSS, you happened to see core.css suddenly appear as a new tab after saving your change. Core.css is the main stylesheet that styles the default.master (and subsequently every other page). But core.css exists at the server level, not the site collection level. It’s only when you start editing the master file that the core.css file “unghosts” and copies down to your site collection level. I suggest that you should check the part of when you edit the master, the core.css file unghosts in this article: http://idratherbewriting.com/2008/06/21/customizing-your-sharepoint-site-read-these-10-conceptsgotchas-first/ In addition, I have found a use link about how CSS works with master pages, if you need, please refer to: http://www.cleverworkarounds.com/2007/10/11/sharepoint-branding-how-css-works-with-master-pages-part-2/ Best Regards David Hu
