InfoPath using XML data connection to connect to List (View)

Hello,

I have found several articles and posts on that issue, and all of them say to add URL to XML data connection of such pattern:

http://contoso/sites/sales/_vti_bin/owssvr.dll?Cmd=Display&List={GUID}&XMLDATA=TRUE&noredirect=true

When I try to add my link: https://collaboration.kraft.com/sites/<site name>/_vti_bin/owssvr.dll?Cmd=Display& List={4E06076A-FABD-4677-B840-AE3A63A13DEE}&XMLDATA=TRUE&noredirect=true

I always get an error: The file is not a valif XML document.

A document must contain exactly one root element.
  Line 1, Position 0

Why is that happening?

Hi,

According to your post, my understanding is that you get the error The file is not a valif XML document.

Did the list view contain lookup field?

You can check the list view to make sure there is no lookup field in the view you selected.

http://paranoidmike.blogspot.com/2008/11/infopath-forms-error-one-of-most.html

You can also check whether there is a top-level site in your web application

https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/86f2b999-ae70-491c-94ae-7c4d1048411b/cannot-add-data-connection-in-infopath-2010?forum=sharepointcustomizationprevious

Whats more, you can also check the steps with the article below to check whether it works.

Thanks & Regards,

Hello,

many thanks Jason. I have tested:

1. There are no Lookup fields in Library. I wan to state that I am trying to use a Library, not a List.
Single line, managed metadata, date and time, person or group, multiple line, hyperlink or picture, number, yes/no - these are the types
2. I don't get what it is all about. What is "top level-site"

3. I was using that article in my work. I created that link using rules from that article.

Also I want to mention that Data connections to Lists on that site work fine (I use them often). Maybe you have any other suggestions? What should I see trying to write this link in webbrowser?

I also think that GUID of the list is correct, here is a cope from Library - %7B4E06076A%2DFABD%2D4677%2DB840%2DAE3A63A13DEE%7D

I am completely running out of thought about the reason

http://[siteURL]/_vti_bin/owssvr.dll?Cmd=Display&List={GUID}&View={GUID}&XMLDATA=TRUE&noredirect=true

Hello, Valeras,

thanks for that clarification, Now InfoPath swallows XML link correctly, and in IE I can see XML file.
My next stage is to publish the form to SharePoint Library and then push button with Query action on it. (I don't get this query done with form open)

The result is sad also:

An error occured quering a data source

XML data that is required for this form to function correctly cannot be found. An entry has been added to the Windows event log of the server. Log ID:5566 Correlation ID:7302df9c-86cf-200b-bd29-4c14c7ae1a55

Maybe you have any suggestions? Because the strait procedure of receiving logs from MS will take months...
