Indicators are not displaying in SSRS 2014

Indicators are not displaying when I deployed the report in report server and access that report using browser. I have checked this in both Internet Explorer and Google Chrome browsers.

Current Version Of SQL SERVER is : SQL Server 2014 (SP1 + Cumulative update package 1 for SQL Server 2014 SP1) has been installed.

But in development environment (SQL SERVER Data Tools for Visual Studio 2012 ) these indicators are displaying properly using Preview section.

Any Idea? Appreciate for your help.

Many Thanks

Hi Sukesh,

As per my understanding, I think this issue can be caused by the browser that run the report manager. If you use IE explorer to render the report, I suggest that you can try to run it in compatibility mode. If you are using another browser, I recommend that you should use IE explorer to render the report to check the issue again.

If this issue still exists, in order to solve the problem more efficiently, I need to clarify some information.

  • Are all reports with indicator image cannot render well in DEV report manager? Or just this one report?
  • What is the phenomenon about the indicator image display problem? Could you please post a screenshot about this?

Thanks Marks for your quick reply.

I believe this is not browser issue because I am using both IE  Explorer and Google Chrome browsers and both browsers have same issue.

  • All reports with indicators are working well in DEV environment
Any Idea?

Thanks

Hi Sukesh3,

Based on my understanding, the report contains indicator can render correctly in Visual Studio. After deploying to report server, indicators within the report is not able to display both in IE browser and Chrome, right?

As we tested in our environment (SQL Server 2014 SP1 + CU1 for SQL Server 2014 SP1 ), the indicators can display correctly in browser. In your scenario, please check if only the indicators in this report cant display after deploying to report server. If that is a case, please open the report from the report manager with click-once report builder, then check if indicators can display when running the report in report builder. You can launch the click-once report builder by clicking the Edit in Report Builder option like below:

If indicators within all reports deployed to report server are not able to display, please try to run a repair operation from the SQL Server Installer.

Besides, you can also use F12 developer tools to troubleshoot the webpage issue. You can use DOM Explorer tool to check the if attributes of indicators are right. Also please use Console tool to check if there is any error message thrown out when you run the report. Please refer to this article: How to use F12 Developer Tools to Debug your Webpages.

If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

Best regards,
Qiu
