Incorrect content type being linked to a document when clicking on New button in a document library
Hi, I have a small single server sharepoint services 3.0 deployment using office 2007. I have set up 4 content types at the root site. A centralised template library at the root site which contains the 4 content types , they are all cascaded from the 'Document' content type and they all have their own .docx or .dotx word file as a document template. The content types are cascaded to libraries on several sub-sites. When I create a new document by using the "New" button in a document library in one of the sub-sites the new document is sometimes created with a set of columns linked to one of the other content types. The document template is always correct. Changing the order of the documents on the new button on the sub site changes which document types are created incorrectly. This behaviour onlyhappnes when using the New button. i.e. If I sart a new document and do a save as (from a new document outside sharepoint or another document in sharepoint) or use the upload button it saves as the correct content type. Any help ,much appreciated.

Hi, That is an interesting issue. Since this is running only WSS v3, are you patched to SP2? Is behavior consistent with all client machines tested? How deep are these content types from the parent? Another idea is do you have any sort of caching enabled for the site, particularly core.js? Regards, Savoeurn Va Microsoft Online Community Support
