Incoming Email Setup
The list was created successfully, but could not be assigned an e-mail alias because of the following error: Error in the application. Can anyone tell me how to fix this error? I've looked through the logs (which doesn't log an event for this), verified the right accounts have permissions in AD, created an MX record in DNS, and still this error is what I get when I try to create an email address for things in SP. I'm using Exchange 2007, MOSS 2007 installed on Server 2008. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Try upping your logging level (only temporarily) to Verbose and then retry the setting. Immediately after it fails, set your log level back down to normal levels and check the ULS logs. There should be plenty more information available to help you trouble shoot the problem. I trust that answers your question... Thanks C http://www.cjvandyk.com/blog

Is there anyway to find out which account is getting access denied?

I have literally given every sharepoint account "delegated control" rights to the OU in active directory and permissions through the security tab and still this is not working. Is there something that needs done in Exhchange? We are using 2007? Thanks.

Hi mtroser, I assume here that you've followed the Technet Article over at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc262947.aspx#ConfigureADDS We also had issues getting the directory management service working with incoming emails; In the end we decided that allowing "any" sender to send to document libraries would be OK, so long as we restricted the use of SMTP at the firewall to certain IP addresses. Obviously this is only appropriate where you have a small range of IP addresses that will be sending emails to your MOSS farm.
