Not sure if this is the right place to ask a question regarding Office Web App Server, but why am I not able to edit Office files when they are located on a UNC? If the file is in sharepoint, I cant edit them.

I'm not sure why this was moved to the SharePoint forum since the question is specifically related to Office Web Apps server which is now separate from SharePoint. The original question hasn't been answered. Any Microsoft personnel going to address it? The Office Web Apps server is marketed as allowing Office Web Apps to edit any file including those from UNC's. There is only documentation on VIEWING files on UNC's. So the question is what is needed to be added to the URL or request to get the document to be editable via Office Web Apps. More info...go to http://myserver/op/generate.aspx and you can enter the URL of the file you want to access with web apps. Go to that URL and you can view it. But you cannot edit the document. Why? And how do you get past this? Rob
