Impossible to save site templates when information management policy is turned on?
Hi, We need to save a site as a site template, but SharePoint throws en error when we have a document library with information policy turned on. We want to add a label to one of the content types. This makes it impossbile to save as a site template. Is there any information about if this is a bug or not supported? Thanks, Christoffer

NEVER post the same question to more than one forum. It creates parallel tracks and this wastes everyones time. I have deleted the post made to design/customization. Neither forum you posted to is correct for an admin question like this so I am moving this copy to SharePoint - setup/admin etc. (pre-SharePoint 2010) (I'm presuming you don't also have SP 2010) Moderator P.S. At this late stage in a product which came out almost 4 years ago, new bugs are unlikely so it's wise not to ask so quickly if something is a bug. SP 2010 "FAQ" (mainly useful links): http://wssv4faq.mindsharp.com/default.aspx WSS3/MOSS FAQ (FAQ and Links) http://wssv3faq.mindsharp.com/default.aspx Both also have links to extensive book lists and to (free) on-line chapters

under IRM settings please check Labels part There are two option under that , the second option must be checked which says - "prevent changes to labels after they are added" Regards, Pratik Vyas | SharePoint Consultant |

Hi Christoffer, Thanks to share your post in this forum. For the issue that you have encountered, as far as I am concerned, it may be just a permission issue, and using an account with higher permission levels will solve the problem. And also here is a helpful link: http://community.bamboosolutions.com/blogs/sharepoint_blank/archive/2009/01/21/customizing-a-sharepoint-library-part-2-permissions-amp-management.aspx. Hope this could help you! Leo

Hi Leoyi, Thanks for the reply, but I'm encountering this issue when being logged in as site collection admin as well. Thanks, Christoffer

Hi, Thanks to follow up your post in this forum. For the issue that you have encountered, I think you may try this: Grant the user "Design" role on the List Template Gallery, the user should be able to "save list as template"; Grant the user "Design' role on the Site Template Gallery ( http://audc-spoint-01/_catalogs/wt/Forms/AllItems.aspx), the user should be able to "save site as template". Alternatively, grant the user "Design' role on the top level site, the user should be able to "save site as template" and "save list as template". And also you can try to use stsadm to save the template site. Hope this could help you! Leo
