Importing a hotfix update into SCCM

I have successfully imported the following hotfixes mentioned by KB2775511 into WSUS and can see them there, but after trying a sync via SCCM i do not see them in the list of updates:

http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Search.aspx?q=2732673

http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Search.aspx?q=2728738

http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Search.aspx?q=2878378

Any idea how to figure out why SCCM isn't showing them? Possibly a log file to check?

i doubt if importing the cab files into WSUS would sync into SCCM (haven't tried though) would work but did you check the wsyncmgr.log on the sccm server if it detects the newly added cab files.

I did check the log and didn't see anything. I have previously tried with other updates and it worked, so I wondered maybe there is a specific issue with a "Hotfix" (although it's available from the catalog and I can import it into WSUS)

What you're doing here is not support so your results will vary and of course will be unsupported. Yes, I've seen and heard others do this successfully, but as with all unsupported things, there are many different possibilities.

In this case, there is no "Hotfix" classification for updates in ConfigMgr and is most likely the source of your issue although I though 2775511 was an update rollup.

Hi Jason,

Thanks for your answer. Just wondered, why you say this is unsupported, since there isn't a "Hotfix" category within WSUS either, but it does work to import any update in the catalog, so why should SCCM differ?

It's unsupported because Microsoft says it is. You're basically attempting to do something that they didn't design for or test.

I was also investigating this. I noticed, that WSUS console has hotfix class, but SCCM does not.

Anyway, I feel that those 3 additional updates are not needed.
