Importing Windows 8 into SCCM
I've got a question I am hoping someone has an answer to. With Windows 7, you could not import the install.wim file into SCCM as that would result in every system being deployed with the OS on the D: drive. My understanding this was due to how Microsoft captured/created the Windows OS that was on the OEM media. With Server 2008 R2, you could import the WIM directly and deploy without issue. For Windows 8, are you able to import the install.wim from the OEM media and deploy from that properly or do we still need ot do an initial run using setup.exe (and an unattend.xml file) and capture a wim file to be imported into SCCM. Thank you

The problem isn't really with the install.wim (anymore at least) but is with ConfigMgr itself not doing the correct thing. Win 8 deployment is not supported with 2007 so although you may get it to work, whatever happens is completely undefined.Jason | http://blog.configmgrftw.com
