Import Excel Workbook Fails with an Unexpected Error

Hi

I had a user request to import file in a new list on an on premise SharePoint 2013 farm that has May 2015 CU applied.

Should be a couple of mouse clicks for the this tactical request

Things I have tried

  •  save file as .csv
  • search and replaced %20 in any of the urls in the file
  • Tried  the import in SPD
  • checked that IE has my web app in the trusted sites
  • Turned on permissive mode at the web app level  ( NO IISRESET as Live )
  • Shouted at the screen ;-)

Hello Daniel

Have you tried from the excel to export the table as a SharePoint List?

This type of errors are common when there is some column mismatch with the SharePoint Columns.

Hi,

First, please try to import another simple Excel spreadsheet to the SharePoint list to have a try.

Second, please try to import spreadsheet with another pc to have a try.

Third, please delete all cache files of your browser on your previous pc to have a try.

Fourth, reconfigure the "Office Shared Features": "Visual Basic for Applications", to do so, please follow the steps below:

1. Click "Start" at the left lower corner of your previous pc.

2. Click "Run".

3. Input "Appwiz.cpl", then click "OK".

4. On the next screen, choose "Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010", then click "Change" at the top of the screen.

5. Choose "Add or Remove Features" on the next screen, then click "Continue".

6. Extend the feature: Office Shared Features.

7. Click the down arrow in front of "Visual Basic for Application" under "Office Shared Features".

8. On the drop down list, click "Run all from my computer".
