Impact of moving installed SCCM client from old domain to new domain
Hi, My customer have to deploy SCCM. They already started with the AD migration from old forest to new forest, So user migration from old forest to new forest is in process. I have to install SCCM 2007 R3 in the new forest. SCCM have to manage the number of systems which are from new & old forest both. Later on the systems from old forest will be migrate to new forest as per the AD migration activity. My main concern is that, what will be happened to the installed SCCM client on the old forest machines after migration. Do i need to reinstalled the SCCM client? Regards, SandeepK

The clients will be moving to the same SCCM hierarchy or it's totally a different SCCM hierarchy?Anoop C Nair - @anoopmannur MY BLOG: http://anoopmannur.wordpress.com User Group: ConfigMgr Professionals This posting is provided AS-IS with no warranties/guarantees and confers no rights.

The clients needs to be assigned to the new SCCM infrastructure. Take a look at the following technet blog: http://blogs.technet.com/b/configmgrteam/archive/2009/04/09/reassigning-a-configuration-manager-client-across-hierarchies.aspxThis posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees, and confers no rights. There's a blog post from MS about this but I can't seem to find it. You have to reset the client certificate. Also I would NOT reuse that site code. There's a very good chance you are going to break stuff by doing that. John Marcum | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jmarcum/|

I concur with John: same site code does not equal same hierarchy in ConfigMgr 2007. The link Rene posted below is the one John is refering to (I believe). That link contains exact instructions for what must be performed.Jason | http://myitforum.com/myitforumwp/community/members/jasonsandys/ | Twitter @JasonSandys
