I tried to import a MOF file into hardware inventory from my Site Server and now I cannot even remote into it - I NEED THY HELP!

What I want to do is create a baseline configuration to try and inventory all members of all groups on SCCM clients. I read the following two articles:

  1. http://myitforum.com/myitforumwp/2013/03/21/all-members-of-all-local-groups-inventory-for-configmgr-2012/
  2. https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/74a75802-96c3-48da-957e-4286d88f4234/enable-the-members-of-all-local-groups-of-machines-inventory-for-configmgr-2012?forum=configmanagergeneral

I pasted the code from the 1st link into a text file and renamed it with a .mof. When I tried to import that into hardware inventory, it errored out. So, I used the code from the 2nd link instead and ran a mofcomp -check on it and it reported that it should have a #pragma autorecover, so I added that to the top of the .mof file and then reran mofcomp -check and all was well.

Then I tried to import that into hardware inventory and it just showed that it was loading classes. When I stepped away from my computer to grab a bite to eat for about 20 minutes or so, I came back and the remote session to my Site Server had ended. I tried to remote back into it and all it says is:

"Please wait for the local Session Manager"

I really hope that I did not just screw something up on my Site Server.

Can someone please help me here?

Thanks

While anything is possible, there is no reason to believe that the MOF file import caused any damage to your site server or is preventing your remote connection.

Have you tried logging into the console of the site server?

Yes, I can finally use the SCCM admin console now.

Man I was hoping you were going to respond to this on a Friday, Jason.

I was able to initiate a restart using the restart-computer PowerShell cmdlet and now everything seems to be working fine. One thing I forgot to mention is that I was also prestaging content on a remote DP while also trying to create the cm_localgroupmembers WMI class, so perhaps the Site Server was too heavily tasked. Sherry did mention in the article that importing the MOF file could take a while, implying that it may be a load on the processor. So perhaps this is why I could not RDP at the time. I will just wait until the 18GB package that I prestaged on the remote DP is done performing the package distribution from the Site Server and then I will retry the MOF import.

Does this make sense?

Thanks
