I took a backup of a wss / Microsoft Project issue list, now I want to add it to another existing sharepoint 2007 site.. what do i do?
I know similar questions have been answered before on how to migrate an installation from one server to another... But I just have to add a page to an existing sharepoint. I got the issue lists backed up by running a stsadmin -o backup on the 'lists' portion of the sharepoint site. The backup was successful and seems to be about the file size I would expect. How do I restore this backup file without overwriting anything on the existing sharepoint server?

Does anyone know if the solution below would cause any issues? This is a production sharepoint server and I don't want to cause any downtime. Can anyone suggest anything? Create a new SiteCollection Restore your *.bak file using the command stsadm –o restore –url http://siteurl/ –filename c:\Temp\backup.bak –overwrite Add a link to the new site collection into the existing site collection page

Hi, first create a blank site and then restore that backup on blank site which will not overwrite anything on existing site.Regards, Pratik Vyas | SharePoint Consultant | http://sharepointpratik.blogspot.com/
