It really depends on what kind of environment you're using,Personally we use a SQL table for that, easy to retrieve and join against JOBIDs and such, because we log each step in the package. But I'd love to hear other experiences.MCITP - BI 2008 http://asqlb.blogspot.com/

I have seen most clients saving logs just to a flat file.
But I would agree with Jason, logging into a database provides more benefits and easy way to generate reports, too.
I have an interesting tool for you to take a look: DTLoggedExec
at http://dtloggedexec.codeplex.com/ that can easily do that and more, for example you can produce very nice dashboard (health, stats, etc.) reports off the logs generated by this utility. Logging into either target is easy with this tool, but it still requires
