I can't get package to load connection string from xml file - help?
Sweartagawd I'm doing exactly what all of the eleventy-jillion sites say to do: add new xml configuration select connection string property from the property list of the connection manager save the configuration manually edit the config file in text editor to add the db password to the connection string am I missing something? when i re-open the package, i get validation error "login failed" for the connection manager in question. i'm absolutely certain the info is typed in correctly. when i manually put the user/pass into the connection manager properties screen in bids designer, it all goes swimmingly. I also have my ftp server password in the config file, and there's no validation errors on package open, so i assume that part went fine. what am i doing wrong? thanks, sff

Typed pw into connection mgr properties, hit test connection, succeeded. Hit OK to close it, saved, rebuilt, closed package. Re-opened, and same errors. First one was: Error 2 Validation error. Import CSV into database: pkgMTNDataXfer: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_OLEDBERROR. An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80040E4D. An OLE DB record is available. Source: "Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server" Hresult: 0x80040E4D Description: "Login failed for user 'MTNSAT'.". pkgMTNDataXfer.dtsx 0 0 Checked the config file, it has been overwritten with the no-password ssis-built one. When I manually put the passwords in, it still errors on package open validation. I copy/pasted the connection string into powershell for a quick test, worked fine. grr.
