Due to repeated failures to install Build 10041 through windows update, I have decided to attempt the ISO method.
My question is if I install the OS from the ISO then will I loose my personal data on my pc? When I used to update through windows update(preview builds) I never lost any data but I am unsure if this is the case with ISO also?

you can try refresh your PC, then try to download and install Build 10041 windows update again. it work for me was able to update to build 10041 after refresh. 

using ISO perform clean installation will lose all data on your system drive.

Build 10041 ISO has not yet been release, will be release when build 10041 have been release to slow ring.

In my laptop, I have one hdd of 1 tb of which I have made 3 partitions.

"C" - os and system files
"L" - music and data
"S" - 3rd party installations
"D" - Recovery

Will "L" and "S" also get erased?

as I stated earlier, only your system drive/C: will be wipe out.
