IPv6 support in SCCM 2007 R2
At the moment we are using SCCM 2007 R2 in an IPv4 environment and are planning to migrate to IPv6, however I have not been able to find clear information about the extent of support this product has for IPv6. So I was hoping someone could give me some information or point me to some information about the IPv6 support of this product. Thanks in advance, Bastiaan

Hi, I would say yes based on this quote: "When a Configuration Manager 2007 site is configured to use fully qualified domain names (FQDNs), you must ensure that these are configured in DNS as host entries (A records for IPv4 addresses, or AAA records for IPv6)." Source: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb632341.aspx But I didn't found anything about in the Supported Configuration articles.Follow me through my blog and Twitter!

You can use IPv6 prefixes as boundaries, so my guess is that it's supported.

IPv6 has been supported by Configuration Manager since RTM (we use IPv6 extensively at Microsoft) - unless specified for individual features, because of external dependencies. For example, AMT doesn't support IPv6 for the versions of AMT that Configuration Manager supports, so you will see IPv4 listed as a prerequisite for out of band management (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc161785.aspx). Wake On LAN can be configured for subnet-directed broadcasts, which are not supported with IPv6, so you will see IPv4 listed in prerequisites for Wake On LAN (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb680822.aspx). In What's New in Configuration Manager 2007 (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb680807.aspx) you'll find the statement: "Configuration Manager 2007 also includes support for fully qualified domain names (FQDNs) and IPv6." We didn't draw a lot of attention to IPv6 support because we didn't think it would apply to many customers for a while. With the growing interest in DirectAccess and its requirements for IPv6, maybe it's time to make this support more obvious.

As a result of this feedback, support for IPv6 is now added to the General Supported Configurations (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd547071.aspx) - which should make it easier to find: Support for IPv6 Configuration Manager 2007 supports IPv6 in addition to IPv4, unless stated in the prerequisites for individual features.
