IE Crashes When Closing a Tab or Window Containing a SharePoint Site
This seems a pretty odd issue to me so I thought I would post it here to see if anyone might have come across it as well. So here's what happens. I believe we are runnning SharePoint Server 2007, and I am using Windows XP SP3 (x86) and IE 7. I open one of my companies SharePoint site pages using IE 7. Everything seems to work fine I can interact with links, create items, view documents all with no issues. *Note* - I have a Windows 7 machine (x64) running IE 8 and I am unable to recreate this problem on this machine. Other Windows XP SP3 machines also are not crashing when I go to these same pages and then close the Share Point page. When I close a tab or an IE window containing a share point site, IE locks up and I need to kill it via task manager. I can close any other tab containing any other site (other than a second SharePoint site) and IE is fine until I close a share point site. I remember a colleague telling me this may have something to do with SharePoint Services, but they were not sure of the specifics, and Google has so far not provided any answers to this specific type of issue. Anyone have any ideas?

Can you run the following tool on IE and let us know if this fixed your issue. This issues has been reported in XP and Vista and has to do with a C+ add in/app that ties into IE. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737Kris Wagner, MVP, MCITP, MCTS Twitter @sharepointkris Blog: http://www.sharepointkris.com/blog
