Hi, Firstly, please make sure that your web application has a “/” root site collection at http://yourservername , if hasn’t, please create a root site collection on the web site. If you are connecting to a SSL/HTTPS site this is a known issue that was recently reported. I am sorry there is no hotfix currently. The workaround is to open a separate Explorer window. Thanks for your understanding. Xue-Mei Chang TechNet Subscriber Support in forum If you have any feedback on our support, please contact tngfb@microsoft.comXue-Mei Chang

I'm running into the same issue. We have SharePoint 2010, we force external users to go to https ://sharepoint/. If they try to open document library with explorer it fails, but if stop forcing them from using https and they access http ://sharepoint site they are able to open doc library with explorer.
