IE10 - TLS Mutual Authentication

Hi Team,

We are using IE10 as our client for our CRM system (Oracle Siebel 8.1). We are using IIS7 as our Web/App Server. We need to establish TLS mutual authentication with from our IE10 client to another server which is websphere based. Please confirm my following questions.

1. Can i perform mutual authentication (by issuing client certificate) using Self-Signed Certificated? or is it mandatory that i need to use CA Signed?

2. if its mandatory for CA Signed, can i use open SSL to convert my self-signed to dummy CA signed? and will i still be able to achieve?

3. We took IIS Admin's help to configure the server is there any ready reckoner to configure the IE 10 client, we referred msdn blogs

Note: Its 2 Way mutual Authentication, enforced client validation by issuing certificate.

Please clarify

Regards

Sam

Hi,

For former two question, I not sure if self signed CA would be work to test TLS, it would be better to made a test in your environment or post this question at IIS forum.

For IE configuration, there is no Official document as its depends on enterprise itself product environment.
