ID 199 on cluster resource

Hello , when i try to modify a protection group to add a new cluster resource i get error ID:199, with these description:

199

DPM was unable to protect the members in the resource group <object name>. This resource group contains some resources that have dependencies which not present as part of this group.

1) Check your cluster configuration to ensure that shares and disks on which these shares reside are part of the same resource group

2) Check your cluster configuration to ensure that the application and the disks it requires are part of the same resource group.

I think my cluster configuration is OK:

Cluster resource is new and i dont restart any cluster node since i create it. It could be the problem?

I restart DPM server ...

Thanks in advance :)

Hi,

This error can occur if you have more than one network name resource associated with
a single resource group. If you have multiple network resource names for the same
resource group, then you will need to make sure that the dependencies are set between
the resources and the network resource names.

Hello Mark.

Is there any chance for a deeper explanation of this. We have run into the very same problem but your description does not make it easier for us.

We have a newly set up SMB 3.0 file cluster using two hosts and a shared jbod, both file servers have 4 network interfaces.

1. Management Teamed NICS (clients)

2. Infiniband 1 (clients)

3. Infiniband 3 (clients)

4. Infiniband 4 (Internal).

I checked our resources and we seem to have 4 shares under our SOFS share. But I cannot see that we have any resources in the sofsgroup that have dependancies that are not a part of the group. What settings do I need to configure in the Cluster Managemer in order to get DPM to correctly protect the shares.

Kind regards

Marcus
